CatholiCon Expo Has Been Cancelled.

Friends!

Last year, one hundred of us Catholic New Media types gathered for a unique moment – we brought together the kind of people who may very well be remembered as the Lewis & Clark of the Digital Continent: Brandon Vogt, Matthew Warner, Fr. Z… And who knows who else! CatholiCon 2011 almost broke even and the organizational team put it in the hands of God.

We went forward in confidence that if God wanted the 2012 event to happen, He would provide. By the end of May, with roughly 100 days to go, we were forced to discern that the 2012 event was simply not doable.

Several of the key necessities had simply not come together. Ticket sales and fundraising were just not there, other conferences had absconded much of our content and we had not been able to find the kind of volunteer support that we needed.

The Board of Directors met and our shared discernment was that we would be moving forward because of our will and not due to the direction of God.

And so, it is with great confidence in God that we announce the cancellation of CatholiCon 2012.

All tickets will be refunded and our sincere apologies go out to those who have been supporters of our event and our apostolates.

But be not afraid! We need your help to make sure that CatholiCon 2013 will go forward. We’re still looking for sponsors, supporters, and willing volunteers to get the word out, help with the planning, and make sure there’s a buzz by the time registration opens next year.

Until then, we wish you well and ask for your prayers for all those involved in the work of evangelizing the Digital Continent.

Pax Christi,

Fr. Chris, Fr. Ryan, Joshua LeBlanc, and the CU Crew
